　The torrential downpours that have caused travel delays and flooding misery this week showed signs of abating last night - but the showers could be back before long. Many parts of eastern and northern England saw a full 24 hours of heavy rain with up to 100mm (4ins) falling in some places. More rain is forecast for later this week.
